Fact-Checking Policy

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Accuracy is non-negotiable. Every claim of fact published on The Pampered Paw is verified before publication.

Source hierarchy

  1. Primary sources — peer-reviewed veterinary and animal-science journals, official guidance from regulatory bodies (FDA, EPA), and statements from board-certified specialists.
  2. Professional associations — AVMA, AAHA, NDGAA, and equivalent international bodies.
  3. Manufacturer specifications — used only for product specifications, never for health or efficacy claims.

What we never do

  • Cite a single anecdotal source for a health claim.
  • Make therapeutic or medical claims about products that are not approved for that use.
  • Republish manufacturer marketing copy as editorial.

Review cadence

Every article is reviewed at least once every 12 months for accuracy, and immediately when a product changes meaningfully or a relevant scientific consensus shifts. The "Last updated" date on every article reflects the most recent verified review.
